Dick Vesy

Dick Vesy passed away Monday, April 25 after a battle with cancer. The shooting world fell into a tailspin of dismay and disbelief that such a wonderful human being was no longer with us. Many a tear has flowed since learning of his passing. People were quick to offer their condolences and expressions of what a fantastic human being he was.

Larry Bartholome, Adjutant & Dick Vesy, Captain 2002 US F-Class Rifle team.

The shooting world is, without a doubt at a loss. Dick was the kind of man that personified the word Gentleman. He was always willing to lend a hand and do whatever was asked of him. Dick had a quiet unassuming air about him and was always ready with a smile.

He captained the first U.S. F-Class team in Canada in 2002 where they claimed the title of World Champion and he did this without fanfare or glory while at the same time having no trouble "laying down the law." He was tough but easy to respect. During the first team meeting he announced that there would be no "primadonnas" and if we weren't happy with that, there's the door. He understood what being part of a team was and lead by example.

His words, while tough at times, were honest and sincere. Being around Dick simply brought out the best in a person. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
